We just got back from Alabama last night. The reason for the visit was my grandfather’s funeral. He lived a long, full life and left a huge family behind – 6 children, 10 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren and was Mikah’s last living great-grandparent. (Tyler still has 2 great-grandmothers who are alive) He also was the last grandparent of mine alive. He served in the US Air Force during WW2, The Korean War and the beginnings of the Vietnam War. (He retired in 1963. And actually, the Air Force was created during the time he served. He was in the Army initially) Tonight, I am posting candid pictures of the family after the funeral. We recently visited my parents for a week. During that time I got a few more pictures of Ally. She sure has grown! She laughs all the time – unless she is asleep or screaming (both of which are other favorite pastimes. I do believe eating is her #1 choice, however!) She LOVES Mikah & Mikah loves playing with her. She tolerates me for now 
(and that’s a good thing since there are few people she even tolerates! LOL)
My sister’s family spent the 4th of July weekend with us. On Friday night we drove a few miles up the road to see the fireworks. It’s the first time in several years we have gone because Mikah was very sensitive to the noise when she was younger. (I am sure several family members remember her screaming the entire show a few years ago!)

I finally got around to uploading the pictures I took of Ally, Kara and Sean the last of May! Ally wasn’t in a pleasant mood the majority of the weekend…. Therefore, I had about 10 mins. total to get a good picture. Even then it took me, Nana and Kara … LOL I managed to get a few cute ones though!

I thought I’d post some more pictures of Ally tonight. Mikah loved holding her and is turning out to be more maternal than I expected. All great art work needs a medium and a working surface! I bet da Vinci never painted a pregnant womans belly! (umm… and probably never felt like he had missed anything in the process!)
Da Vinci, I am not…. but I started messing around with face painting a few years ago when Mikah had a “Pony Carnival” birthday party. I found an online recipe and mixed my own paints. What a disaster! Homemade paints are great for kids to play with, but terribly difficult to paint faces accurately with. Lesson learned, I orderd Snazaroo paints for my next face painting adventure. What a difference!
