This year we will be using the Beautiful Feet Guide “Geography Through Literature” to study some of the geography of the USA and Canada. They sell a beautiful map kit but it’s larger than I wanted (plus, I’d have to order and pay for it.) I like to be able to keep everything together in a notebook to be bound at a later date. Therefore, I created my own maps to go along with the lessons and wanted to post them for others to use. (I did an internet search and couldn’t find any….)
Map 1 – the entire area needed for the labeling lessons
Map 2– a close up of the Great Lakes area
Map 3 – a close up of the St. Lawrence Gulf area
Note: I didn’t make the 2 smaller maps to scale with each other. Therefore, you can’t put them together to make one larger map. The reason I did the smaller ones is so that labeling would be easier.
As I searched for a map I also found a wonderful resource. There was a movie that was made in the 1960’s about the book and it is online at http://www.nighttrainfilms.net/NTFWEB/NTFPages/PaddleToTheSea/
The entire book is online at that site as well. The movie is also online at youtube.com.
