Don’t miss their GREAT Latitudes guides (Not free) to use with middle and high school level literature. From the publisher… ” Latitudes links literature and social studies in the classroom. Each Teacher Resource has reproducible primary and secondary resources, historical information, and open-ended, student-centered activities to link time-tested novels to historical events and issues. Latitudes saves hours of research time!” The list of Latitudes guides includes many books we have read or plan to read.
Another resource they sell that I really like is Portals to Literature. From the website… “Portals to Literature Teacher Resources are loaded with reproducible student activities to support an integrated, literature-based language arts approach. Thought-provoking activities help students derive meaning from a novel and personally respond to the author’s work.” Rainbow Resources new catalog has a good review of both. (If you haven’t gotten your catalog yet make sure you request one. Warning… This catalog is very overwhelming to new homeschoolers!! It’s an awesome resource and a great company to order from, though.)
Now, for the freebie. You have to register at Perfection Learning and then once you are approved you have access to their Teachers Resource section which has 423 FREE teachers literature guides! The ones I reviewed varied in length and content but several looked awesome!
